Darko signed for just over the MLE but for only 3 years and Varejao seems headed for the qualifying offer route to become an unrestricted free agent next year.

It appears obvious that $6 million for Varejao would have been matched and Darko would have been gone somewhere else it that happened. By signing Darko and allowing Varejao to sign the qualifying offer Memphis may end up with both players in the future.

Wouldn't that be shocking.Chip Crainhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03633190293643815540noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8878605120366712244.post-62183484489543823342007-07-11T19:50:00.000-05:002007-07-11T19:50:00.000-05:00Varejao would be a perfect fit for the Grizz but I...Varejao would be a perfect fit for the Grizz but I would rather keep the money than overpay for a role player. Varejao is worth a salary starting a 6 million a year. If the Grizz offer him that, the Cavs will match. Millic isn't woth more than the mid level. If signed for more than the mid level, then only sign him for 3 years. I would rather keep money than overpay for mediocre talent.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
